Micro/macroscopic and physical characteristics
Wood whitish, sericeous with sapwood and duramen undifferentiated. Compact with straight grain. Specific weight (U= 12%) of 0.66.
Use of wood
Excellent mechanical characteristics, easy to work, seasons well in the open, even if the colour tends to alter; perishable but easily treated with antiseptics. It can be finely worked, obtaining a silky white finish, making it much in demand for furniture. With its fine grain it is also in demand for turnery. Its root stumps are used in decorative woodwork and finishings.
